Workshops

I am available to give a 1/2 or 1 day workshop for any group on topics of behavior science, behavior modification and training methods.  The workshops are structured to fit your needs and may include the use of animals on site either for the purpose of demonstration or for attendees to train.  Fees are based on lecture time, my travel time and lodging and any fees associated with the use of animals on site if needed.

Currently Scheduled Workshops:

Train Any Pet   (Presented through the Batavia Park District)

Come and learn fun, positive and effective methods of training any species of pet with which you may be sharing your life. Dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, birds, fish, reptiles and more can all benefit from the use of these training methods. Learn how to teach your pets good manners as well as fun behav- iors that will stimulate them to problem solve and will enrich their lives. The class will include a short lecture on the principals of learning and training and then spend the majority of time using a variety of fun games to practice the various skills needed to be a good trainer. Experience the perspective of the animal as well as the trainer! The goal of the class is to introduce the principals of positive training for any species and send you home with the skills to start training some basic behaviors right away.

*Training sessions are open to anyone attending the workshop.  We will be working with live animals in the workshops.  Space will be limited to ensure a quality learning experience.

The workshop is for caregivers of ANY species of animal and will cover:
  • The principals of behavior and how ALL animals learn
  • What your part is in shaping your companion animal's behavior
  • How to become an accurate observer of animal behavior
  • Basic strategies for behavior change
  • Positive and effective training techniques for any species of animal
The teaching method is a combination of lecture, video and in-class exercises and learning games.
